As the end of January approaches, the town of Madonna di Campiglio buzzes with excitement. The streets fill with vintage cars, and racers are ready to battle it out on the Dolomite trails.
What are we talking about? The Winter Marathon, of course!
Given the hotel's central location, race participants prefer to stay at our establishment, and moreover, in past editions, the hotel has been the official meeting point for the drivers. The parking lots are therefore filled with beautiful vintage cars, always highly appreciated by tourists visiting Campiglio and eagerly photographed. You can also catch up with the organization in our bar
The hotel is located near Piazza Righi, the starting point of the race, so guests can easily walk to see the first car depart for the course.
What's the Winter Marathon?
The Winter Marathon, as mentioned in the introduction, is nothing but a race that brings together drivers, collectors, and enthusiasts from all over Italy to Madonna di Campiglio.
The regulations provide for the race to be divided into two stages, so that the race can take place over two different days. On the first day, the race will focus solely on the streets of Val Rendena, while the second stage will touch the most famous roads and passes of Trentino-Alto Adige.
The cars allowed to participate in the race (according to the official regulations) can be all vehicles built up to 1968. If the Organizing Committee allows it, vehicles of particular historical and collector interest built up to 1976 may also participate in the race.
Once the actual race is over, before bidding farewell to the participants and the cars for the next edition, the authorized vehicles will delight in some show trials on the frozen lake in the Campiglio park. After these, the concluding award ceremony for the Winter Marathon winners will take place!
Winter Marathon's history
The Winter Marathon was born in 1989 with the idea of combining the spectacle and beauty of cars that have made history in the past with the fantastic landscapes and beautiful scenery of Trentino.
Each edition gathers enthusiastic racers and collectors of vintage cars, who meet on this long weekend at the end of January, ready to battle it out over more than 400 km of "tracks" formed by Dolomite roads and passes. The race is one of the most important events on the ACI Sport international calendar and is characterized by a highly technical and exciting sporting aspect that, edition after edition, involves all the most important and highly rated "Top Drivers" as well as significant figures from the national and international automotive world.
The official location since the first edition has been Madonna di Campiglio, which represented and still represents the perfect combination of the prestige of vintage cars and the beauty of the Alpine landscapes crossed by these classic vehicles.
